Tom Zelano, president of The Elmhurst Boys, a men’s organization of alumni, parishioners and friends of St. Pius V Parish and School in Providence’s Elmhurst neighborhood, recently presented a check for $4,886 to Sister Maria Francesca, principal of St. Pius V School, to support students’ needs.
In addition to the donation, the group also purchased and painted a new shed to house students’ play equipment and new picnic tables for the school playground.
The funds were raised during the group’s annual golf tournament, which benefits a different cause close to the St. Pius V community every year. In addition to the golf tournament, The Elmhurst Boys meet regularly and support several annual fundraising events, including a pancake breakfast to benefit the diocesan Keep the Heat On campaign and assisting at the parish’s Harvest Festival.
